H-A-double L-O-W-double E-N spells Halloween!

Anyone who went to middle school with me should remember this classic. So excited I managed to find the song online today! So obviously I had to post it today in case I forget tomorrow. And since we all know I'm not technologically advanced to post a song on my blog, so please go here to listen and enjoy (complete with scratchy record sound and all!).

This, and seeing Hocus Pocus on tv the other night have made my Halloween complete!

Happy weekend!

I am thrilled its finally Friday! This has been my first 5 day week in the office in quite a while, and I've successfully made it through. Although it seemed like a pretty long week, I guess it has sort of flown by since its already the weekend right now. Lucky me!

I've got lots of fun things packed into my two days: dinner tonight and perhaps my friend's birthday party, lunch date tomorrow, perhaps some partying it up downtown tomorrow night and hopefully (finally) seeing Claire for our usual Sunday night dinner! I've missed her and Hailey dog too. So much fun does not bode well for my diet, but things have been going pretty good. I even had an egg white omlette this morning and a healthy sandwich for lunch. Hopefully I won't blow it too badly. And I plan on being back in the gym tomorrow morning. Such dedication--who am I?

Since I've been soo productive at work today (not!), I'll share a delicious recipe with you all courtesy of the Grove Park Inn (and the Food Network) that I made for Thanksgiving last year. I know, I know. It hasn't even bee Halloween yet, and I'm already thinking of Thanksgiving. But I love it! And the food! So here is my delicious cranberry pumpkin bread pudding. To die for.

Cranberry-Pumpkin Bread Pudding
Recipe courtesy Dave Rowland, Grove Park Inn Resort and Spa, Asheville, NC

Prep Time: 10 min
Cook Time: 1 hr 0 min
Serves: 6 to 8 servings

Ingredients
4 cups milk
1 cup granulated sugar
8 whole eggs
1/4 cup vanilla
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 (16-ounce) can pumpkin pie filling
Cubed bread (see Cook's Note)
1 cup fresh cranberries
Cook's Note: Day-old biscuits or croissants are best for this recipe. You will need enough to fill a 9 by 13-inch baking dish.

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a mixing bowl, blend all ingredients, except for bread and cranberries. Fill a 9 by 13-inch baking dish with bread cubes. Sprinkle cranberries over bread cubes. Pour custard mixture over bread cubes, making sure that all cubes are submerged (push cubes down if necessary). Bake for about 1 hour, or until pudding is set. Serve warm.

Now I can't wait for November!

Happy hours and happy days

illustration from Garance Dore

Isn't she beautiful? Just a pretty picture to brighten up a fall day.
I was so happy that it was warm enough to wear a skirt and boots today! I'm not looking forward to a long winter of pants and closed toe shoes...sigh. And I have a happy hour to look forward to in just a little while. Much needed after a day of semi-tedious work! Plus, I get to go to a new Mexican restaurant tonight..lovely Thursday. Especially considering tomorrow is the first Friday I've had to work in the office in over a month (sad me..I know). Hopefully it'll go by quickly and the weekend will be here before I know it :)

Gorgeous

Please look at this beautiful diamond ring, which sold at auction in NYC this week for a mere $7.7M. Sigh...will I ever find a man to buy me such a thing? Probably not. Well, maybe the Claire's version. A girl can dream.

Day 3 of my new diet isn't going so well..we went out for lunch and I had a hamburger! Although, I've been craving one for about a week, so it was bound to happen sooner or later. I fully intend on a salad tonight at dinner with my Meat-n-Eat group. So excited to see the group--I haven't seen most of them since we got back from Disney over a month ago. I hate how we can all live (relatively) close by, but life gets hectic and I travel so much, that I rarely get to see anyone on a regular basis. Should be a fun night. I did go to the gym 3 days in a row, which is pretty unheard of for me--hooray!

In other excitement, we had a fire drill at work today...walking down 8 flights of stairs was not that fun. At least I didn't have to walk all the way back up too! I'm sure everyone in Midtown Atlanta was wondering what was going on at our building. Oh, the joys of working in the city.
