Thoughts for the week:

-It is far too cold outside for me to feel like I'm in Florida (albeit, the top of Florida, and sadly not at the beach)
-I cannot wait to be in North Carolina tomorrow!
-The Wake v. UNC basketball game on Saturday will be my first in-person basketball game since senior year.
-This weekend will also be spent reuniting with Sarina & campus--can't wait!
-I haven't been to the gym at all, but I've had salad at least once per day, which is great for being on the road.
-In turn, I will be totally blowing these good eating habits in Winston this weekend (including, but not limited to: Midtown, Little Richard's, Village Tavern, Foothills....so much food, so little time).
-I climbed stone mountain last weekend! The weather was perfect, the view was great, and I didn't even kill John for making me do it once we got to the top. Pictures to come.
-Mellow Mushroom is the best pizza in ATL.
-Its almost March, which means winter is almost over. Praise the Lord! I don't think I have ever been so over winter.
-My ear is STILL clogged from the sinus issues I had last week. I hate being half deaf, and I sincerely hope it pops tonight or tomorrow and doesn't drive me crazy on two plane trips!
-I miss my cat and can't wait to see her this weekend.
-I'm taking my first vacation day for the year on Monday. Must find other vacations to take--any ideas, or takers to join me??

What's been going on with you, friends? I promise I'm going to try to be better about blogging soon, starting with pictures of all my fun!

XOXO

Snow!

We were lucky enough to have almost 4 inches of beautiful, powdery snow in Atlanta last Friday. Please enjoy a couple photos I snapped!

Everyone knows the best part of getting snow is making snow cream!

Pretty trees at a shopping center near my apartment in Buckhead.

The view from my friend's porch.

New Recipe

Chicken Corn Chowder Soup

1/4 cup margarine
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped carrot
2 TBs flour
1 TBs Batures Seasonings
2 cans chicken broth2 cups milk
2 to 3 cups diced chicken
1 can corn
1 can cream style corn

Melt margarine in skillet. Saute onion, celery, & carrots. Sprinkle flour and seasoning in to the saute mix. Stir well. Add other ingredients. Bring to a boil & simmer 20 minutes.

I made this soup this yesterday (and left out the can of regular corn), and it was delicious! Here is a photo of how it turned out :)

My goodness, it is cold!

I once again apologize for the lack of blogging. The past 7 days have been very busy ones. Its hard to believe that exactly a week ago I was driving to NC to see Erin and go to her mom's funeral. I had a whirlwind trip (which I am very glad I took), and was back in Atlanta by Friday. Then I had a busy busy time catching up on work and household stuff and cleaning! Then I drove with a coworker to UP-state Tennessee, right by Kentucky yesterday morning.

Its freezing here! We are expecting snow tonight and tomorrow, and the high is 24 degrees! Even though I am dying of the coldness, I am enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery and good local restaurants (and the king sized bed in my hotel room). Once I get home I'll post some pretty pictures for you all (including some photos of the mountains of snow piled up in parking lots all over the town).

My only regret over the weekend is that I missed the Snuggie pub crawl with some friends! I got so wrapped up in everything and had a terrible headache Saturday morning after breakfast, that I took a nap that lasted until 5 pm. Oops! But John and I did get the chance to go to the Thrashers game (his first), and we had a great time! I hope we get to go at least once more before the end of the season. We also discovered a nice little park in my Peachtree Hills neighborhood. I can definitely walk to it once the weather is warmer--and they have swings there! On Sunday we went to the Mellow Mushroom nearby on Peachtree, which was delicious. I was so happy to get out of my apartment and actually do a little exploring. Much more of that to come this year I hope.

As for this week, I'm looking forward to surviving this weather, getting back to Atlanta safely, seeing Lydia and going wedding dress shopping (!) with her, and celebrating Valentine's Day with John. Great week over all!

Happy Tuesday friends. What are you all up to?

Homeward bound

I'm heading to Raleigh today for a quick mid-week trip. I hate the circumstances, but I am excited to be able to go home and see my parents and Erin and Annie the cat!

Things I'm not so looking forward to: long drive and icy roads (?). Eeek.
Things I am looking forward to: avoiding traffic, Bojangles pit stop, seeing some snow and sleeping in my old bed tonight!

Happy Tuesday everyone!
xoxo

Rough week

Hi dear friends,

Sorry for the lack of posting for the past week--its been a rough one for me. I found out last Saturday that one of my coworkers was killed in a car accident coming home from work the night before. This was devastating, because this was a person I spoke to almost every day, and traveling with quite a bit over the last year. Last week was very tough, but I enjoyed being in Tampa with my co-workers. It was warm and beautiful, and it was nice not to be in Atlanta during such a sad time.

I also found out yesterday that one of my closest friends lost her mom to cancer. She has been sick and struggling for quite a while, so her passing was not unexpected, but that certainly doesn't make it any easier. I'm lucky enough to be able to make a quick trip home in the middle of this week to be able to be with her and do anything I can to help her along.

So, I want to dedicate this post to these two wonderful ladies. Please say a few extra prayers for their families!
