Royal Wedding Freak
I also forgot to post about the amazing Diana/Kate Middleton look-a-like ring I purcahsed recently. Judge all you want about what a royal freak I am, but I bet you're still jealous of this gorgeous piece of jewelry :)
Insanity
I feel like I've been neglecting the blog a little too much lately, but really, can you blame me? Since my last post on April 14, I have been to the north Georgia mountains and back (beautiful), I spent a week in Tampa, Florida (hot and sunny!), and I had a quick, one-night trip to New Orleans and came back yesterday. Not to mention packing up my entire house in the meantime and preparing myself for the royal wedding day on Friday (oh, and also my house closing)! In short, I've been busy. I feel like every spare moment has been spent calling utility companies and insurance companies and movers. I didn't realize until yesterday, but I haven't been shopping since the first week of April, and I haven't even imposed a shopping hiatus on myself! Insane.
I'm getting nervous and really excited for Friday. I think my day will start around 5am for wedding coverage, then my closing is scheduled for late morning. After that, its straight back home to move everything into the new place. Scary, exhausting, thrilling...i'm sure it'll be all of the above.
I can't wait to post pictures once everything is moved in and prettied-up. Parents arrive tomorrow night, and I have to admit, I plan on putting them to work immediately. John too, once he gets off work on Friday afternoon. I bought them all coffee and pralines and other assorted candies in NOLA, so I think thats perfectly acceptable payment, don't you?

Happily Busy
There is so much going on right now and so many things on my to-do list that I barely even know where to start. Perhaps that's why I haven't actually started anything! Hopefully that changes today..I've got a few phone calls to make to get the ball rolling on the impending move!
Luckily I've made lots (too much) of time for fun lately too. Last weekend was Sarah's bon voyage before she heads off to Asia until August. We went to Taverna Plaka (amazing Greek food and dancing and martinis, if you live in Atlanta). It was so much fun to see everyone and hang out, even though I'm sadly giving up my Friday night date buddy for a while. This weekend I'm heading to the mountains for a little getaway! I can't wait to leave tonight and enjoy some mountain sunshine and the big, amazing cabin where we're staying.
Things are moving along for the closing on my new house (finally! I can't believe it!). I got my inspection last week--went well--and am working with the bank to get everything in order to close at the end of the month. I've been frustrated this week with my apartment complex. Apparently at Post Properties, even if you don't sign a lease, you're never really month to month. More like two months to two months. So in short, even though I gave notice and am moving out by April 30, they're making me pay another month in rent, just throwing a large chunk of money right out the window. Incredibly frustrating and outraging, if you ask me. I'm stil going to try to fight it and make a scene in the leasing office (I have no shame, which we all know). So, I have no hopes of getting out of it, but please cross those fingers for me! I've been pretty bummed about it all week, but now I've decided just to be happy I get to leave that place and move into my pretty new house! I can't wait to have a housewarming and for all my friends to come and see it :)
Hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy the beautiful springtime. I definitely intend to!

Excellent April
April has been very, very good to me so far, and its only been 5 days! As you know from the last post, I finally have a real house that I can really move into some time this century--most likely by the end of April! Long story short: I got really, really sick of waiting around on my short sale (I signed the contract on that one 4 months ago this week...4 months!). So, I started browsing the web for real estate again, even though it was the last thing I wanted to do. Turned out well for me though. I found almost the exact same townhouse as the short sale, listed at $15k more (but for a regular sale). It has a beautiful kitchen, its also an end unit, has a gas logs fireplace...the whole nine. And its in the same complex, so when I say exactly the same, I mean exactly the same, just at the other end of row! I made my offer Friday, they counteroffered on Saturday and finally accepted my counteroffer on Saturday afternoon--$10k less than asking price! More to come on the closing date, but it looks like it will be very soon (fingers crossed). It may even be the royal wedding day! If you know me at all, you realize that will be one of the best days ever for me. I am beside myself with glee. As for the other good April things going on, I got my tax return back, I got a little raise at work and I got to visit my parents and friends in NC. What more could I ask? The rest of the month is going to have to work hard to compete with the past 5 days. I hope y'all have been having as great of a time as I've had. Enjoy a few pretty pictures of my new place:
And a special belated happy birthday to the lovely Emily, who is probably my most dedicated blog stalker! Love you and your 25 year old self!

I have a house!
A real, non-short sale house! And if all goes well with the bank, etc, I'll be moving in before April is over. I am so SO excited. It finally feels real!
More details/pictures to come, I'm sure :) Happy weekend!
