Bargain hunting galore!

I've been having a lot of "Kelly Poole" (ie: thrift store shopping, major deal hunting, etc.) moments lately, so I wanted to share some of my amazing bargain finds with all of you!

I'm so proud of my finds! I think I'm hooked on thrift store browsing now! I guess all the antiquing/flea marketing with Mom and Daddy over the years has finally paid off. Happy Birthday Daddy (on Monday). So happy we could spend the weekend together in ATL!

Life Update

I realized reading through my last few posts that I haven't really posted an actual life update in a while. There isn't a whole lot of excitement going on, but I figured inquiring minds might want to know.

The last few weeks at work have been hectic, but good. I've been learning a lot and even though it might stress me out sometimes, I feel like I'm getting better at what I know and at least getting familiar with things that are still brand new. Learning new things is definitely scary, but really great!

The personal life is going pretty good too. I've been trying to reel in the shopping, and I did a lot of really good bargain hunting last weekend. Go me! So, I'm trying to save some money and eat better, which I think I've been doing. I haven't gone crazy at the grocery store lately, and I've even been attempting to cook in more. Things with J are excellent too--we encourage each other to save and eat better and have more free fun--like going to the dog park, which I love! I like spending my weekends with him and getting out of the city to go to his house. Very happy camper :)

The only thing I am not being good about so far this year is keeping up with friends better. I've been a little sick, so I got a little behind on my friend phone calls for the past couple weeks (sorry K and Sarina!), but we finally chatted this week. I also talked to E. who's mom is very sick--please everyone say an extra prayer for her! And tonight I'll be having dinner with Jenn, who is moving away from me in just a couple weeks. I'm starting to feel like everyone I know and love is moving to D.C. Maybe I should do the same in the future? Hmm...

Sigh of Relief

Last week was a pretty rough week. I was really stressed at work, and it was sort of the first time that has happened to me before. A bad mix of important things happening at the very last minute and a huge lack of communication. Not my thing. Luckily, as of this morning all the stress is over! I'm so happy! This was my horoscope this morning:

I had a lovely weekend, too. Friday I allowed myself to go to the mall because that is my happy place, and I wasn't feeling very happy. I did well--I only bought one thing at the Victoria's Secret semi-annual sale: a soft, comfy, oversized sweater for lounging around the house. Because everyone should have beautiful clothes for lounging around the house. Right? I also went to Target twice over the weekend, and purchased no clothes or shoes there! Have I finally turned over my saving over shopping leaf? I need to stop by there again tonight for some black shoe polish to (hopefully) save my favorite black flats. Wish me luck!

Apparently I missed the memo...although it would've been a little bit frigid to wear no pants on MARTA this morning. Maybe next year!

Luckily my mood has improved greatly since Thursday..thank goodness. Now I just need to make it through Monday at work and everything will be lovely!

Ugh

Stressed. Cold. Bad mood. Not good.

How did this happen....its even snowing outside! Here's to hoping tomorrow will be better, even though I have to come in on my day off. Double ugh.

23 degrees

That's how cold it was when I walked to the train for work this morning. Unbelievable! Last time I checked, I was in Georgia. This should not be happening. On the upside, we are expecting snow on Thursday! I am getting really giddy just thinking about it!!

In other life news, the dieting/excersize isn't going as well as I would've hoped...my mom bought me a giant container on chocolate covered raisens for Christmas, and they are my downfall. Luckily (or not so luckily?), they are almost gone, and hopefully I can get really on trackafter that! Also, tonight will be my first trip to the gym (or maybe doing pilates in my apartment...it's 23 degrees for Lord's sake!) of the new year. Fingers crossed that this will start a great new trend for the year!

I'm also in a good mindset about spending money. Even though I went to Lenox on Saturday all by myself, I didn't spend all that much. But I did get a few pretty things, including a black dress from the Loft marked down from $128 to $29 and a red cardigan for only $14.99! I also got my new London calendar for the year, as usual. It makes me want to go back so badly! Unfortunately, I don't think 2010 will be the year....maybe 2011??

Basketball season is upon us!

Basketball is, of course, my favorite sport to watch on tv and in person. I'm especially loving it this week--Wake beat Xavier on Sunday night in double overtime, and then the Tarheels lost to College of Charleston last night!! Who would've thunk it?

Maybe the Deacs will have a chance to win when I see them play Carolina in person at the end of February!

Changes. an update

Just wanted to update on the fact that I am well on my way to following through with my new year changes/resolutions:

-I went to the grocery store and loaded up on healthy stuff!
-I started my Quicken budget (even though I was bad and went shopping today...oh well! It was all on sale, I promise.)
-I've been a closet-organizing machine.
-I had lunch with Lauren today! Can't wait to do more catching up with friends more often!
