New Day...

...new attitude? I think so. I hope so. I finally closed a chapter yesterday that I had needed to close a for a while. Its hard to let go of some things, but even worse to hold onto them when you know it isn't good for you. I got the closure that I needed for the sake of my sanity, and now I can actually start to move forward. This is absolutely a step in the right direction, but sometimes those first steps are just so hard.

Again, my friends are wondeful people to put up with my crazy phone calls. I love you all dearly, and am lucky to have you in my life. I can pretty much guarantee you haven't received the last slightly insane call from me, but hopefully they'll be fewer and more far between now :)

Ode to Ben

Thank you, Obama, for doing the first smart thing in months, and keeping Bernanke as head of the Fed.

Not so good

I'd been doing so, so well and then boom--yesterday was a bad day. No good very bad day. Its like they just come out of the blue. Its days like that when I want a roommate so badly. Someone to talk to in the evening, and not just on the phone. Thank God for my friends though. I'm not sure I would physically make it through the evening without them to talk to and cry to.

So now I've got a little bit of soul-searching to do, and I'm not so excited about it. Last night I just wanted to run to NC and hide under the covers at my parents' house. But, thats kind of the crappy thing about being a grown-up, especially a grown up who lives 6 hours away from home. That's not really possible. Sigh. At least I get to be there in 9 days...thank goodness. This weekend I'll just have to occupy myself with my lovely friends.

Plus, my day was doubly worse because I've got some crazy spring-time-esque allergies going on. My scratchy throat and puffy eyes are very attractive...not!

Hopefully I'll be feeling better tonight. I have a feeling its just going to be one of those weeks, and I'll deal with it. Probably won't be pleasant, but I'll make it.

The Hope Diamond

Everyone knows I am obsessed with the Hope Diamond. I have never been to Washington DC without "visiting" my old friend. Two weeks ago when I was in DC again was no different (of course). Well, I have very exciting news about the gorgeous jewel: they are resetting it to commemorate its 50th anniversary at the Smithsonian! Go here to vote on a new setting.

Personally I think the new settings are alright, but nothing will ever beat the original.

New week, new attitude

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend...I know I did. Lots of sleeping and relaxing and seeing friends, which was great. I got to see a friend from Wake on Saturday who just moved down here for grad school--so awesome to catch up with her and add yet another college friend to the mix in Atlanta. I had dinner in midtown with Jenn and some lawyer friends on Saturday night. We went to Shout (the sister restaurant of Twist--which I didn't really love). Shout was excellent, though! Yummy sushi, fun booths to sit in and a really great patio/dance floor/dj area upstairs outside. The weather was perfect that night, and we had a great time. Yesterday I went over to Claire's house to see her and Hailey dog, and we went to the dog park together. So much fun!

Now I'm back to another work week--an actual 5 day work week, too. Boo hiss. But it should be a nice, quiet time in the office without too many meetings, so I can't complain too much.

And, as always, I've got other stuff going on this week to keep my brain fully occupied. I'm a little bit anxious about it, so I hope I can keep that under control and just be calm this week. Whatever happens, will happen. I just need to keep repeating the "I will accept what I cannot change" mantra to myself. Ugh. But on the positive side: Sarina is coming down for a whirlwind visit on Wednesday! Hooray! How lucky am I to get to have another visit with a Wake friend that I didn't even expect.

Also, I am beyond excited that my countdown to Raleigh is only 10 days, and the Disney World countdown is 17! YAY!

Another happy day and I'm so glad! I think its a sign that maybe I'm finally back to my normal self! I hate that it feels "weird" to be happy most every day, but its been a long summer. So I'm extra appreciative.

The flex day has been very successful. I went to the gym (I know...insane), watched lots of excellent day time tv, had an eye doctor appt that I've been putting off for months and am currently making a chicken/stuffing/vegetable casserole in my oven! I also bought weights at Target this afternoon...who is this fitness-loving person? Not sure, but I'm going to run with it while I can. And I hope the cooking goes well, so it will lead to more in the future.

Something relatively major is coming up most likely next week, and I'm a little apprehensive about it. Hopefully everything will go well and I can get through it without freaking out too much. Have a happy Friday night friends!

I'm not sure why I feel the need to post, when 9 times out of 10 I have nothing really worthwhile to say. Ehh whatev...it passes the time at work.

I've got nothing new to report since yesterday, except that I'm terribly homesick for good old NC. I'm pretty excited about the fact that I'll be there in two weeks! Hooray! I might even treat myself to a Bojangles run this weekend. This three day weekend. Sigh...how wonderful. Not sure what I'll be doing yet. Hopefully seeing some friends--including a Wake friend who just moved here for grad school yay!--and seeing at least one movie. We'll see. I'm also going to allow myself to go to Lenox mall tomorrow. I know it'll be glorious. I also need to do other unfun things like cleaning and going to the gym...oh well. At any rate, its still the weekend.

I'm hoping for no rain so that I can stack up some mags and sit by the pool for hours and hours. Fingers crossed! Have a fabulous weekend everyone!
