Beautylicious

I found a recipe for an awesome homemade scrub online today and thought I'd share:

8-10 ripe-to-overripe strawberries

A few spoonfulls of olive oil

Handful of sea salt or epsom salt

Mash the berries up in a bowl, then add the salt and olive oil. Commence scrubbing away the dry skin (I also think this would work wonders for all the pesky, flaky post-sunburn skin this summer). I love finding beauty treatments on the cheap!

Reason #4967 I love ATL

The main page story on the Atlanta Journal-Constitution online is about the tragic shooting at an ATL rapper in Los Angeles. Gotta love a city who appreciates rap music as much as I do. RIP, Dolla.

four days until beach time!

Ahh, Tuesday. It's a nice and sunny day in Atlanta, but it was only 53 degrees when I left the house this morning! I had to wear a jacket for the first time in weeks and weeks! It was slightly refreshing, and I'll definitely take what I can get now before the extreme heat of summer sets in.

I have a lovely midweek frolf date planned for tonight, then something yummy for dinner. I've got to remember to pack a snack for the park, though. I guess I still haven't adjusted to some aspects of big city livin'. I like to eat dinner at a reasonable hour! Haha. Anyway, I'm excited to try out my new discs I bought this weekend. It's so weird that I actually am willingly playing a sport, and I really like it! Although throwing frisbees and walking around in the woods isn't exactly high intensity, but at least it gets me outside and moving around!

Not much else going on today. There's lots to do at work before I get to go to the beach on Friday! I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Drama (but not mine!)

I admit that I have become completely obsessed with all the Jon and Kate Plus 8 drama lately. But, as you my lovely readers know, I loved to hate the show long before all the dramz. So, obviously I love reading all the stories on US Weekly and People (not sure how much I believe, but I still read it). The one hilarious thing that has apparently come to the attention of millions: Kate's hair. It is hideous. I have always thought so and always will. I mean, what is she thinking?? I find it very funny that there are now news articles about something I have had conversations with K about many times in the past. Haha.

Another Year's Gone By

Oh my God what do I see, over my shoulder
Now that a year's gone by
Can't escape this memory, its burning brighter
Now that a year's gone by
And I try, not to linger, but I'll still cry
Now that a year's gone by
I hope we'll try to find some peace
Take from our history what is meant to be
Eventually the truth is plain to see
Another year's gone by
Oh my God it's part of me,
this burning anger I feel the fever rise,
fill my heart with harmony
Let it spill over, touch us deep inside
So an eye, it won't be taken, for an eye
Now that a year's gone by
I hope we'll try to find some peace
Take from our history what is meant to be
Eventually the truth is plain to see
Another year's gone by
Oh my God please answer me, why are we fighting
If you're on everybody's side
If we can't stop this misery in your name and put our fear aside
We'll be gone before we know it, blink of an eye
Another year's gone by
I hope we'll try to find some peace
Take from our history what is meant to be
Eventually the truth is plain to see
Another year's gone by

Daddy, Mom and me a year ago:)

Some of the best people in the world.

Mixed feelings

Today is officially the one year anniversary of my graduation from Wake. A whole new crop of freshly minted diplomas are being handed out today, and I can no longer say "Oh, I just graduated last May." Getting older...le sigh. While of course I'm a little nostalgic and sad--I can't believe its been a solid year since I've spent any large amount of time with my best friends in the world--I'm mostly just happy to say I have survived my first year of adulthood. And I've turned out pretty damn great if you ask me! As much as I've complained about feeling lonely/anxious/whatever about being on my own lately, I have so many wonderful things and people in my life. This first year "on my own" could have gone a whole lot worse than it did. And for that, I am grateful!

Weekend recap: Friday I was a complete bum. Since my class and my test were finally behind me, I felt like a kid getting out of school for the summer. I slept late, layed out by the pool and didn't do much else. Friday night I went to dinner with a big group of people to Lola--yummy Italian food and a Bellini bar. Mmm! After dinner we went to Opera in Midtown. That's right, I officially had my first Atlanta night out in the club. Haha. It was really, really fun. AND, I feel very special because I was watching a Samantha Brown special on Atlanta this weekend on the Travel Channel, and she went to Opera too! She even called it the hippest nightspot in ATL. Since when am I that hip? Who knew! There was lots of fun dancing and delicious beverages:) Saturday and Sunday I was as lazy as humanly possible. It rained the rest of the weekend, so no pool time. But I watched some awesomely bad movies I rented from the library and did some odds and ends shopping yesterday before my massage appointment. (Quick note: it is unbelievably hard to stay awake in a massage when its pouring rain outside...practically impossible).

Now its back to Monday at the office. I should be fairly busy this week, which is good, but I know I'm still going to be restless because I can't stop thinking about my beach trip this weekend! It got here so quickly! I'm going to attempt to pack a little every night so I don't forget anything. Otherwise, here's a few things to be happy about today:

1. A very green banana for breakfast.
2. Not being tired at work--for the first time in a few weeks it seems like!
3. Getting cards from my sweet coworkers.
4. Looking forward to my crockpot meal tonight for dinner!
5. Perhaps attempting to make something about of the ground bison meat I bought yesterday?
6. A normal work week!
7. Beach beach beach.
8. Frolf tomorrow night with my new discs.
9. A couple good phone chats this weekend.
10. Sunny weather is here again!

Free at last!

My class is finally over, hooray!

I finally feel like my life is getting back to normal now that my test is over and this class is done. So happy! Now I can get back to my desk and my normal job. I have the next few weeks in the office, then I get to travel for work again to a few nice places. I can't wait!

Also, today is my Friday! Flex days are awesome. I don't have a whole lot planned for this weekend, but I am looking forward to the following:

1. Dinner out with friends Friday night
2. Phi Mu Alum brunch on Saturday
3. Massage appointment on Sunday

I'm also pretty thrilled that next weekend is the long Memorial Day weekend, and I'll be at the beach! Yay! I love the beach and can't wait to be back there again. Otherwise, there's still plenty of beginning of summer type-stuff to look forward to. Back to Raleigh, good traveling for work, cookouts, etc.
