Teehee

Cartoon from msn.com
No comment on J&K+8 today, but I just had to share that:)
I'm pretty excited because my Mom is coming back down to Atlanta this afternoon! She'll be here for the next couple of days, and then we'll drive back to N.C. together on Friday morning. I'm looking forward to her being here, because I rarely have anyone to hang out with during the week. As much as I like my alone time, it'll be fun to have her here to go to Trader Joe's with me and to listen to jazz music at the High Museum tomorrow night! I also can't wait to go home this weekend and see some of my best friends. All that's standing in the way is a couple of busy days at work--I think I can handle it!
Hope you all have a happy hump day & enjoy the extra hot weather if you're anywhere near Atlanta!

Celeb news all around

Since there is rarely anything exciting to report on in my life (except for the fact that I cooked last night and went to the pool), today's blog will be devoted to a few nutty things celebs have been doing lately, and of course, my thoughts on last night's Jon and Kate episode (b/c you know I have pretty strong opinions about those two).

1. Jessica Simpson is getting a new reality show. Does she not remember that her first reality show destroyed both her marriage and her career? Hmm, maybe not. Although it seems this new show isn't so much about her personal life as her quest to find out what people find beautiful. Right. I would be very skeptical, but I do love a good VH1 show...maybe its got potential?

2. Poor, poor Chris Brown. Turns out he's getting 5 years probation and some community service for beating Rihanna back in the winter. And, while Rihanna was in court yesterday, she didn't actually make any statement. I feel a little let down, but am happy for her that all this drama is over for now.

3. Finally, Jon and Kate. Oh, Jon and Kate. As the entire world probably knows at this point, they announced their separation on a special hour long episode last night, and Kate filed for divorce in Pennsylvannia yesterday. I feel sad, releived and totally unsurprised by this. The problems they have been having in their marriage are totally obvious. In the past, I've been more inclined to blame Kate, but last night Jon seemed to be more of the bad guy. Unwilling to talk or try to work anything out. He had both his ears pierced for Lord's sake! What a loser! Anyway, I'm not sure that one party is more at fault than another. Its just a sad situation for the two of them (or ten of them, I suppose). I just wish they would get their acts together and get off of the television...keeping the show going should be their very last priority at this point.

And, Kate, do something about that hair honey!

T for Tuesday

Not much new to report on, my dears. Lots of work to be done this week in Louisiana, which is good, because its nice to be busy and not totally bored while offsite. I had a fairly boring evening last night. Went to dinner with my coworkers (Ruby Tuesday for the second night in a row!), chatted with the parents and with K for a while and passed out for the night. Its amazing what a one hour time difference makes. Tonight we're hoping to find a mall in the next town over for a little shopping adventure.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I missed both new episodes of Jon and Kate Plus 8 last night! I'm sure I'll be able to catch up when they replay the episodes every single night, but for now I missed out on my dose of drama for the night! Oh, well. Hope you all are having a great day. It's ridiculously hot and humid on the Bayou (ok, I don't really even know if I'm on the Bayou, but its fun to say), but thank goodness for air conditioning!

TLC: Drama Central

Who would have guessed when I started watching Jon and Kate Plus 8 about a year ago that it would turn into the fiasco that it is today! Part of me hates that I am so intrigued by their family drama--probably too intrigued. And I feel sort of bad for forming opinions about them/their kids...whatever. But then I remember that they are the ones who signed up to be filmed with their children 24/7, to have their entire lives on television, and exploit whatever they could for the sake of cold hard cash. I mean: they make $75,000 PER EPISODE. For doing NOTHING! I don't feel too badly about that.

As for last night's season premiere, I felt pretty 'ehh' about it. Yes, it was sad to see them doing their interviews individually. Yes, it was sad that Jon was bascially gone for the entire episode. But I honestly didn't feel that badly for Kate when she lamented that a photo taken at the sextuplets' birthday party might be their last family pic. If she is really so concerned for her family, why are they still on television? Its very clear that she is the only one interested in doing the show and loving the limelight. Jon would probably rather have never done the show in the first place, and I can't blame him. And then Kate talked about being away so much that her kids will call her by their babysitter's name. SO WHY DON'T YOU STAY HOME MORE? You don't have to travel the globe on booktours 24/7....you have plenty of money as it is. Sigh.

Alright, there's my reality tv rant for the day. Even though I'm highly annoyed by these people, I'll obviously keep watching the show. What else do I really have going on? Any thoughts/concerns from my fellow viewers out there?!

Back to reality

Sigh. Back in the office already...I can't believe my beautiful holiday weekend that I had so been looking forward to is already over! I had a really wonderful time and wish I was still in the beach condo right now!

We got down to the beach late Friday night after lots of horrible traffic out of Atlanta. Driving trough Savannah and over the bridge to the island was heaven. I felt immediately happy and relaxed and great. Saturday was rainy all day long--pouring most of the time. I wish it had been sunny and nice, but I honestly kind of enjoy the rain at the beach. Its relaxing, and Andrew and I got to spend lots of time together just playing cards and eating seafood and driving around the island going to tacky beach shops. There were also lots of delicious frozen beverages to be had as well:) Sunday was luckily less rainy, but still very overcast. We walked on the beach and laid out by the pool for a long time, and of course, I got sunburned. Apparently we were getting a lot more sun than we realized--we were both pretty red by the end of the day. I think I got dehydrated too...I didn't feel so hot by the end of the night and we ended up just sitting on the couch, eating pizza and watching movies until bedtime. Monday morning we woke up to absolutely perfect weather--the day we were leaving, of course. We packed up, took one last walk on the beach and drove to Savannah. We had a really great lunch at a restaurant overlooking the Savannah river, which was beautiful. The drive back to Atlanta was nice and quiet, but I was so sad to see the weekend end so quickly. I loved getting to spend so much time with Andrew, and I hope he had a good weekend with me too. I think it was a good test for us--I didn't get tired of him at all, which is saying a lot for me. Being with him 24/7 was actually really nice and I liked getting to know him a little better and being away from everyone with him. I hope he felt the same way:)

Once he dropped me off last night, I got my usual little wave of depression that I get when I'm by myself again after having been with people for a long period of time. I still hate that I feel this way! I wish I could just be happy after having such a great weekend, but instead I just felt a little bit empty. I'm starting to wonder if I really don't like living alone as much as I thought I did? I do cherish my alone time sometimes, but after having someone to constantly be around and talk to all weekend, I just feel lonely when I'm by myself again. I have plenty of friends and family I can call, but sometimes its just not the same. I love that I can call Kristin anytime I need to, and she is always there for me and genuinely understands what I'm feeling. Maybe I've just got a little more homesickness going on...I don't know. Thankfully, this is only a 3 day work week for me, and I get to go home this weekend! I can't wait to see my parents, my cat and my friends.

Thanks for reading all about my craziness. Its kind of helpful to put this stuff out there sometimes:) Overall, I'm a happy girl this week. First grown up boy-girl vacay is checked off the list! And I get to be in North Carolina, the best place in the whole world, in 3 days. In the mean time, there's plenty at work to keep me busy. Although, I'll definitely be making time to post my feelings on last night's intense episode of Jon and Kate Plus 8, since I'm an official blog stalker for them now! Hope you all had a wonderful 3 days!

Drama (but not mine!)

I admit that I have become completely obsessed with all the Jon and Kate Plus 8 drama lately. But, as you my lovely readers know, I loved to hate the show long before all the dramz. So, obviously I love reading all the stories on US Weekly and People (not sure how much I believe, but I still read it). The one hilarious thing that has apparently come to the attention of millions: Kate's hair. It is hideous. I have always thought so and always will. I mean, what is she thinking?? I find it very funny that there are now news articles about something I have had conversations with K about many times in the past. Haha.

SCD arrives tonight!

My quality of life has already improved so much since I got my test out of the way yesterday...I think it was adding more anxiety than I realized. But now I feel fabulous and carefree again! Lots and lots of good things to report on:

1. Sara is coming to Atlanta today!! I am so excited for my first official visitor. I'm taking a half day off work tomorrow so we can be lazy by the pool, shop and eat to our hearts' content. It will be so wonderful to have someone to hang out with all weekend too...none of my usual boring routine of trying to entertain myself. One downside: I probably should've cleaned my apartment before her arrival since its been very neglected this week, but alas, didn't happen. Oops.

Maybe we can recreate this amazing photo from my 21st birthday party this weekend? Hmm..

2. Fabulous meal at Roy's last night. A and I are making it our personal goal to dine at as many island themed restaurants as possible (weird, I know). Last night we had delicious Ahi tuna, Mahi Mahi with some kind of lobster butter sauce that I would like to swim in, and the official most amazing molten chocolate souffle of all time. I also had some type of pineapple martini that was so good I can't even really put it into words. Oh Roy's, I heart you.

3. This weekend I will finally be visiting Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles restuarant. I think I've mentioned this place before (because its one of the reasons I love ATL so much, and I haven't even been yet). A and I tried to go a couple of weeks ago, but the line was out the door and it was late. Sigh. This weekend we will for sure be making an appearance...hopefully at the downtown location, but we're willing to drive to the burbs for the other location if its too packed. I have to introduce SCD to the very best the city has to offer, obviously.

4. I will hopefully be getting in some solid pool time this weekend. I am in desperate need of a tan and I want to get a little color before the beach weekend (only two weeks away!). There's nothing worse than burning like a lobster on the first day at the beach.

5. Ok, so maybe this isn't really a good thing to report on, but I have become mildly obsessed with reading about the Jon and Kate Plus 8 cheating scandal! Its all over US Weekly--there's even video!--and I find the story very sensational. Still not sure if I believe it (I never believe anything until its on people.com, the only legitamite celeb site), but that hasn't stopped me from reading all the stories. One of the more shocking tidbits I picked up from one of the articles: Jon and Kate make an estimated $50K to $75K per episode of their show! Holy crap, thats a lot of money for not really doing anything except their daily routine with the kids. Wow.

6. Its Thursday, which is always a good thing.

7. I didn't go clothes shopping yesterday like I wanted to...hooray for me! I still do want to buy myself a little gift for passing my test, etc, but I'm going to try to think of something memorable that I can get/do. In theory I need to be saving up for all the lovely foreclosed/discounted condos I want to buy one day. If I ever complain about being bored, remind me to start doing some real estate research. No sense in renting when I can buy.

yummy

I'm currently eating a rice krispie treat at my desk and i'm reeeally enjoying it:) I don't think i've had one of these since 9th grade. Nothing much new to report on. Last night I went home, helped make dinner, watched many episodes of Jon & Kate Plus 8 (I don't really like to admit this), and then went to bed. I mostly enjoy low key nights during the week, because I have to get up so early to come to work. Today has been passing by quickly which is always nice. Tomorrow i'll be at the office for a whole day (boo) because I was out on Monday, but I think my co-workers are taking me out for an early b-day lunch! Should be exciting..I just have to figure out where I want to go. This afternoon i've got a phone interview for a bank job here in Raleigh (obviously a first choice, if I don't have to move, so fingers crossed!). Hopefully it'll go well and something will happen soon!

Currently drooling over this: Christie's fall jewelry auction (The New York Sale). So gorgeous!
