Time Magazine's Person of the Year
Y'all know that I would've gone with Kate Middleton. But, alas, they didn't ask for my opinion.

Thursday Links
I have always thought this.
Cold cases never cease to suck me in.
This weather is a hot mess. Literally.

This rekindles the art history nerd buried inside me.
This is just about the craziest thing I've ever heard.
Five new earth-sized planets! And they say Pluto isn't a planet...not cool.

Rethinking SATC
I just read this very interesting article from MSN Money talking about Sex and the City, and its impact on professional women and their financial problems. The show made it seem like you could have it all--including $40,000 worth of Manolos--on even a writer's salary! I think not.
I'm not sure if I agree that the show, or any other kind of cultural phenomenon like it, can cause something like shopping addiction (I'm still not even sure that I think "shopping addication" is actually a psychological disorder, but that's for a different day). But I definitely think that SATC had a huge impact on working women, and how the spend their money and treat themselves to fashion and dining and an overall lifestyle that they make think they have earned, but really they may not be able to afford.

Breakfast
I adore breakfast foods. All of them. I really can't think of something I don't like. And I don't just love it in the morning...I could eat eggs or pancakes or bacon ANY time of day. Mmm I'm hungry just thinking about it!
I was so excited to find this list of 50 wonderful, delicious and unique breakfast places across the US this morning. I definitely want to mark the two in Atlanta off my list sometime soon, and hopefully get to try at least one in California on my upcoming trip. Yay!
Bon Appetit!

Spicy chicken sandwich coming to Chick-fil-a
Read the (terribly written) article here. I'm so excited to try this! I've always liked Chick-fil-a, but frankly its a little bland. I'm glad they'll be adding some flavor to the chicken. I know it won't hold a candle to Bojangles, but hopefully it'll be my new standard order!
Also looking forward to some warm weather--maybe 70 degrees--by the weekend! Thank goodness for that...I definitely can't take anymore snow like we had yet again yesterday.

Jersey Shore
The absolute best show on television right now, as far as I'm concerned! And if you're an addict like me, please click here for the Jersey Shore nickname generator. Amazing.
By the way--I'm the "Paris Hilton of Trenton". Beat that.

Time Magazine's Person of the Year
Is Ben Bernanke! I have definitely blogged about him before, and he continues to be a personal hero of mine. He grew up in South Carolina near the border with NC, and worked at South of the Border (a tacky highway tourist trap that anyone who has ever driven to Myrtle Beach from Raleigh will know about) throughout college. Anyone who can start there and end up as the Chairman of the Federal Reserve goes to show us that anyone is capable of anything. And on a side note, I just happened to see him speak in person last week and was a mere 10 feet away on the front row :)
Read the great article here.

Amanda Knox Trial
Read this fascinating news story about the Amanda Knox murder trial in Italy. I first read about this during my senior year at Wake..its been going on for so long. The jury will be making final arguments this week, and the jury will begin deliberating in December. Should be an interesting outcome.

Happy times!
So many good things to report:
-new gold shoes from Marshall's
-excellent chat with best friend on the phone..I feel so empowered!
-a new pink can opener
-pool and hot tub time
-late night snack of leftover beignets in bed
-Carolina Ale House in Boynton Beach!
-lots of new trashy summer reading & educational life books
-gorgeous weather
-mom and granny visiting this weekend for a shopping extravaganza
-maybe getting home earlier on Friday
-two weekends in NC in a row!
-K and Sarina visit in a month!
Lots of great, happy things!
In other maybe not so good news: Obama's plan to reorganize the Fed and banking oversight in general. Please, oh please, don't let this mean I need to go ahead and find a new career. I just found the one I like! I really want to know what Ben B. is going to say about this, seeing as how he is the only man in Washington who I trust at this point.

Excellent Advice
Read this little tidbit from the Glamour Blog Singleish. Kristin and I talk all the time about wishing we had more confidence to go to parties or restaurants alone. I always think "If only I had one other person, I'd feel fine...", but alas, its usually just me. AND I had to remember the two times since I moved here that I did make that leap: the first time I went to dinner with my monthly out-to-eat club (I made a whole new group of friends and had my dinner bought for me by a cute boy) and the WFU happy hour (I reconnected with a sorority sister from Wake). See, it actually worked out! No more being scared or self conscious!

Scrunchies!
Hahaha this is awesome.

Not a lot happening at the moment to update on. Except for the fact that I got accidentally drunk with my coworkers off of two strawberry margaritas at Chili's last night. Don't even know how it happened, but it was pretty awesome after this semi-stressful work week:) Then I passed out around 8:30 and didn't wake up til this morning. Nice.
Last day at the bank, woo! We may or may not be eating at the same cute little place for lunch for the 3rd day in a row. That's fine with me...I still haven't gotten my fix of "crawfish burger", whatever that is. Can't wait to fly home tomorrow afternoon and have a weekend-o-fun! On the menu: hopefully hanging with Claire tomorrow night and seeing her new house/potentially my new house if we decide to become roomies eventually--yay! Also, the cookoutpalooza my friend Sarah has been planning for months, and hopefully seeing Andrew on Sunday. Hooray! I'm also feeling like a little shopping is necessary. I might even get a haircut and do an at-home glaze to shine it up a little bit. I'll be a new woman!

Reason #4967 I love ATL
The main page story on the Atlanta Journal-Constitution online is about the tragic shooting at an ATL rapper in Los Angeles. Gotta love a city who appreciates rap music as much as I do. RIP, Dolla.

Drama (but not mine!)
I admit that I have become completely obsessed with all the Jon and Kate Plus 8 drama lately. But, as you my lovely readers know, I loved to hate the show long before all the dramz. So, obviously I love reading all the stories on US Weekly and People (not sure how much I believe, but I still read it). The one hilarious thing that has apparently come to the attention of millions: Kate's hair. It is hideous. I have always thought so and always will. I mean, what is she thinking?? I find it very funny that there are now news articles about something I have had conversations with K about many times in the past. Haha.
