Yesterday on the long drive to Sheffield, AL, my coworkers and I stopped at the lovely Cullman Liquidators for a photo op of one of our favorite Youtube sensations. If you haven't seen the video, please see it here:

Good Things Happening

Greetings from the Quad Cities! I'm in Sheffield/Florence, Alabama this week for work, and I'm really enjoying myself here. I've been twice before, and I remembered having fun here, but I've really grown to like Florence on this trip. The weather is amazing (think 78 degrees and sunny), the scenery is gorgeous (I drive over a big bridge over the Tennessee river to get to work from the hotel in the morning) and the town is so quaint. Big trees and big old houses, very cute shops and a local university (UNA). I had a very long walk through the downtown yesterday, and its so pleasant to see an old downtown in a little town that's actually bustling. I'm looking forward to another walk today, and hopefully i'll get some pictures to share with y'all.

That's pretty much been my whole week thus far, just working and enjoying some small town life. Not looking forward to a 5 hour trip back to Atlanta tomorrow, but things could be worse :) I am, however, looking forward to a long-overdue haircut on Friday, and a trip to Raleigh and Winston-Salem next week! Oh, and a holiday from work on Monday (thank you, Christopher Columbus!). Homecoming, the State Fair, so many friends and family...it might just be too much for me to handle. Then after that, I'm hosting SCD's bachlorette weekend in Hotlanta and am taking another trip home after that for her wedding. I am so so looking forward to the next month's worth of activities. And on top of that, my best friend from childhood, Julie, and her fiance Michael just got engaged last week and have set a date for March 24! That's my half birthday :) I can't wait to be in both of these weddings. So much fun to celebrate my favorite people!

You know what else is fun? Eating at Bojangles. Yum.

And, something else? Seeing my fridge fill up with pretty invites (thanks, Sara :).

Greetings from Bama

Hello from the deep south, lovely readers. I hope you all had the best 4th of July weekend! I had a wonderful time in NC with my wonderful friends and family.

Friday I finally got my haircut--3 inches off and lots of layers, and no one can tell a difference except for me! Oh, well. Friday night I also went to the fireworks & beach music show in WF with Mom and Erin. So much fun! I didn't realize that beach music was such a Carolina thing until I got to Georgia, and people just don't do beach music here. Sigh. It was great to enjoy the gorgeous weather and watch people shag dancing all night! Plus, I even got a little tan laying out at the pool in the afternoon--no burn!

Saturday was also spent by the pool with Be (still no burn--hooray!), and I finally got to spend a lovely evening with Matthew! He is one of my favorite people in the entire world. Being the un-festive people that we are, we spent our 4th of July eating French food at North Hills (yum) and seeing the Hangover (hilarious, and very realistic...it kind of made me want to go to Vegas). He is just fabulous, and I can't wait until we go see Britney together! He's the best concert-going partner ever.

Sunday I was sad to say goodbye to the Old North State, I realized that I won't be able to go back for pretty much the rest of the summer..sad. I really do love going home. Seeing everyone there always makes me feel more alive and better about life in general. But alas, i'll be traveling so much in the next few weeks, I probably won't even miss it. This weekend will be the first in a month where I will be in Atlanta with no one visiting and no real plans yet. I can't wait to spend some quality time in my apartment, by the pool, and catching up with all the friends I haven't seen lately. I'm even going to try to fit in a massage appointment and a trip to Bojangles. Can't wait!

For now, I'm working in Alabama all week. I suppose that calls for me to say "Roll Tide!" or something like that, but frankly, I don't really know what that means:) I'm just enjoying small town life that reminds me of home for a few days. And hopefully we'll finish up early and get to leave on Thursday--fingers crossed. My out-to-dinner club is meeting Thursday night and I obviously don't want to miss out!

Only one week from today, Kristin will be in the South again! I can't wait to see her and have my bff to hang out with for a whole week. Too bad work gets in the way...oh well.

I wish I was on spring break.

I really wish I was on spring break. This first spring as an adult is rough--where is my week off to go to the beach? Where is all my free afternoon time to lay around outside doing absolutely nothing? If I were still at Wake this time of the year (my personal favorite time in the Forest), I'd be swinging on Davis Field or lying on on blanket painting my nails and listening to my ipod for hours on end. There might even be a trip to Haynes mall and Dewey's involved:) Oh how I miss that part of college.

And for another stimulating peek into my Alabama life this week! Haha, I wish that we're true... There is nothing new to report. Still just working and eating, and that's pretty much it. I ate peach cobbler not only once, bu twice yesterday! I'm pretty sure the only thing I'm going to take away from this week is about 5 extra pounds. I'm still unsure if I'm going back home today or tomorrow. My guess is tomorrow, although sleeping in my own bed tonight would be a very nice surprise:)

Things on my to do list:
1. Unpack and repack for the weekend once I get home.
2. Major laundry (see #1).
3. Buy some new cute pajamas for spring/summer time. I really like these.
4. Eat lots of Easter candy!
5. Clean my apartment at some point...its amazing how dirty it gets when I'm not even there!
6. Wear shorts since the weather has finally thawed out again.
7. Go on a serious detox after this week full of peach cobbler and said Easter candy.
8. Go to a baseball game. Yes, you read that right. I won't feel like a real Atlantan until I see the Braves in person.
9. Hang out more with all my new girlfriends in ATL.
10. Plan trips to Raleigh and/or NYC. Can't wait!

Alabama is boring. At least being here this week for work is boring. There isn't anything to do except eat, and the pickin's are slim for that too. Although I have to admit I had some of the best blackberry cobbler of my entire life last night at a place called "Peach Park". The whole trip was worthwhile just because of that:) I clocked some serious time on the phone last night too, which is good. Being stuck in a hotel in the middle of nowhere forces me to catch up with people! Also, its very conducive to lots of wonderful sleep!

I'm happy its already Wednesday. Only one or two more days here, and then I'll be back to ATL then off to Savannah and Tybee Island! I am super excited. Need to remember to charge my camera for the occasion. Maybe I'll run into myfood idol Paula Deen!
